The
Pass Plus option is a short course of about six hours which
is taken after you have passed your driving test. When you have
finished the course (there is no test at the end of it!) it will
entitle you to up to 35% discount off your insurance when you insure
your first car with one of the major insurance companies that support
the scheme.
The
course was developed by the government in conjunction with the Driving
Standards Agency and many of the major insurance companies; the
idea being to give you the chance to learn new additional skills
which you will not have been able to learn while you were still
a provisional driver. This in turn should reduce the risks of you
having an accident and make you a safer driver.
The
Pass Plus course usually consists of about six hours and covers
the following modules:
- Introduction
and Town Driving
- Rural
driving
- Night
Driving
- Adverse
weather driving
- Dual
Carriageway Driving
- Motorway
Driving
The
main aim of the course is to teach you positive driving techniques
and get you away from the "driving like a learner driver"
stereotype.
